Top 3 Trails to hit in Eagan and Burnsville

Whether your mode is walking, running, or biking, there are some outstanding trails to hit in these two cities. Heavy woods, found nestled in the middle of the burbs right on the outskirts of a major metropolis. These gems have changed my life by giving me access to nature on a lunch break, half days, even on an early summer morning before the house has woken up. Check these places out to get your dose of woods and adventure.

1. Lebanon Hills-Eagan- If you don’t know, now you know. Plenty of people live right here in Eagan and have NEVER gone into Lebanon... please do yourself a favor. With over 1800 acres of walking trails and well maintained, diverse mountain bike terrain, you are truly missing out if you never get out there. Lakes, ponds, trails, nature, let’s go. The trail system is graded like a ski slope. Easiest trails are green, mediums are blue, and the difficult are black diamond and even red diamond ♦️. Beware of those and of course only ride what you are comfortable riding. I’ve even taken clients out here for a workout and being in nature is by far my favorite place to get a workout in.

2. Terrace Oaks-Burnsville. With some of the steepest terrain that yield sets of huge hills. This park has a smaller footprint but does not disappoint for a local gem. I grew up running around this one as well and going exploring here, you can find some truly unique spots with outstanding views.

3. Cliff Fen Park-Burnsville. It’s part of the Minnesota Valley Wildlife Refuge and is one of the the largest wildlife refuges in an urban setting in the entire country. Right there. Yet no one really knows about it and honestly I’m ok with that because it stays very open and undisturbed. Perfect.
